Clinical Navigator – Children’s Anaesthesia and Light Mobile Sedation (CALMS)

The newly established London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) Children’s Anaesthesia and Light Mobile Sedation (CALMS) team is tasked with assessing, triaging, arranging, and completing urgent sedation procedures for paediatric patients. Under the guidance of the Clinical Manager in the PMDU, the Clinical Navigator role collaborates with the CALMS multidisciplinary team and physicians to facilitate timely access to paediatric sedated procedures across various locations within the hospital. The Clinical Navigator ensures that interdisciplinary assessments for urgent paediatric sedated procedures and diagnostic imaging tests are completed in line with program targets. Serving as a primary resource for the CALMS team and as an interdepartmental coordinator for sedated procedures, this role includes maintaining communication between the referring unit and the CALMS team to efficiently triage patient referrals.

Additionally, the Clinical Navigator supports the development of sedated paediatric clinical pathways for the CALMS team at LHSC, consulting with associated referring departments to exchange information, share best practices, and support the implementation and sustainability of new quality improvement initiatives, including overseeing evaluation processes. Furthermore, this role entails reviewing patient data to ensure adherence to practice standards, collaborating with site leaders to address gaps, and developing databases to aid future metrics and dashboard reporting.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:         $44.33 per hour - $55.41 per hour

Hours of work:      37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field
  • Current certificate of registration from a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent, related clinical experience experience including the care of paediatric patients
  • Experience with paediatric sedated procedures, all ages, is mandatory
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in paediatric sedated procedures
  • Knowledge of paediatric procedures in multiple departmental settings
  • Project Management experience required
  • Demonstrated change management skills and experience in the development of policies
  • Demonstrated ability to explain and/or interpret information and policies
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Advanced critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Advanced People management skills
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
