Applications are invited for a Laboratory Quality Consultant position in the PaLM Quality Office. 

The Laboratory Quality Consultant is a subject matter expert in standards of quality practice, regulatory accreditation requirements, and laboratory licensing and has informal leadership responsibilities supporting the day-to-day activities of the PaLM Quality Office. This position is responsible for collaborating with PaLM Divisions and the regional hospital partners to advise on quality improvement initiatives, develop and maintain quality processes and procedures, and perform regular audits to assess and check quality. The Consultant works with internal and external stakeholders to improve service to patients, staff, and regional hospital partners. Reporting directly to Manager, Quality Office and Regional Quality, the Consultant acts as a bridge between the Quality Management System (QMS), quality improvement projects, and accreditation requirements for all PaLM Divisions.

The Laboratory Quality Consultant engages and collaborates with stakeholders across LHSC and regional partners to address pre-analytical issues in all lab disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for education and training various clinical areas and working closely with research partners.

A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and linkages within the PaLM team and regional partners to ensure quality results and continued quality improvement for our patients and clients. This position will assist in the organization and functioning of timely transportation of local and regional specimens.

Regular Full - Time 

Rate of Pay:               $ 44.33 per hour - $ 55.41 per hour

Hours of Work:           37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Current registration as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO) or Successful Completion of an Undergraduate Degree in a Regulated Health Discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant related experience
  • Certification with the Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) or Certification with Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) preferred
  • Certification in Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt, Quality Management and/or as an Accreditation Assessor preferred
  • Proven strong working knowledge of quality management system essentials 
  • Demonstrated Strong knowledge of the Quality Management System Essentials
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skill in laboratory practice
  • Assesment - Knowledge and experience with laboratory accreditation and inspection ( Accreditation Canada Diagnostics, ISO15189,ASHI, Health Cnada, FACT
  • Continual Improvement – Experience identifying and implementing quality improvement initiatives;
  • Customer Focus – Demonstrated presentation skills;
  • Documents and Records – Demonstrated knowledge using OMNI-Assistant Software;
  • Equipment – Experience with equipment validation an asset;
  • Facilities and Safety – Demonstrated knowledge in laboratory safety;
  • Information Management – Strong computer skills analyzing data and driving indicators;
  • Occurrence Management – Demonstrated the ability to develop and implement corrective actions to correct non-conformances;
  • Organization – Knowledge and understanding of Ministry licensing, and data collection;
  • Personnel – Understanding of training and competency programs;
  • Process Management – Familiarity with quality assurance, and project management an asset
  • Purchase and Inventory – Familiarity with inventory management;
  • Risk – Strong knowledge and understanding of risk management.
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
