Supporting Dr. Radha Joseph, the Medical Secretary is responsible for planning and monitoring the daily organization of the clinic/office and providing secretarial support to the Physician in their clinical practice, academic and research responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, answering of telephones and contacting patients; general reception duties; scheduling of patient appointments; liaising with other medical and health professionals to facilitate patient referrals; preparation of correspondence; letter transcription; transcribing clinical notes.

 

Regular Part-Time

 

Hours of Work:   up to 22 hours per week 

 

Rate of Pay: $27.54 per hour - $34.42 per hour 

 

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma in Medical Office administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hospital
  • Minimum one year recent, related experience 
  • Computer software skills such as Computer software skills such as Microsoft Suite, patient registration, scheduling programs, and Cerner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology 
  • Knowledge of OHIP billing procedures
  • General bookkeeping skills
  • Time Management and organization skills
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be empathetic and sensitive to patient needs, as per hospital policies
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
