What you’ll do
- Spot opportunity. Scan market trends, emerging tech, and unmet customer needs; prioritize high-impact innovation themes for the business.
- Ignite ideation. Facilitate collaborative whiteboard jams and structured brainstorming to generate a steady flow of novel concepts.
- Prove feasibility. Oversee rapid prototyping, simulation, and testing to de-risk ideas early and secure stakeholder confidence.
- Drive project momentum. Build integrated plans, remove roadblocks, and keep the project moving.
- Grow talent. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and career development pathways for engineers, co-ops, and interns.
What you bring
- A track record of leading multidisciplinary engineering or product teams to commercialize innovative solutions.
- Expertise in Stage-Gate methodologies—and the wisdom to flex the process when breakthroughs demand it.
- Technical depth—whether in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or systems engineering—paired with the curiosity to learn new domains fast.
- Fluency in translating big-picture strategy into actionable experiments, clear metrics, and compelling storytelling for executives and customers alike.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Biomedical) or a related field of study
- 10 years or more of product development experience
- People management experience is an asset
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation is required
- Strong medical device industry experience. Respiratory focus is a plus
- Start-up experience is an asset
- Strong project management experience
- Understanding of market assessments
- Understanding of clinical research and publications
