Job Title Summer Student - Dietary Worker

Location Victoria Hospital

Term Dates May 1 until September 4, 2025, or as otherwise required

Responsibilities

Summer student positions provide eligible students the opportunity to gain meaningful temporary employment and experience working for London Health Sciences Centre. The selection of students to be considered is based on established qualifications and availability. The number of students to be hired for the year is yet to be determined.

Summer student positions which may become available are focused in our service areas. All positions are Temporary, therefore you are not guaranteed any minimum number of hours per week, but can work up to full time hours. You may be provided a schedule, but there are many on-call shifts at the last minute in addition to any scheduled shifts. As we are a 24/7 facility, shift times cover weekends, statutory holidays, evenings, and overnights. Positions may be located at University Hospital and Victoria Hospital. Flexibility to work at any or all sites is required as departmental needs may vary.

Dietary Worker

The Dietary Worker is responsible for preparing selected food items, cleaning assigned areas and equipment and providing prompt and efficient customer focused service. The Dietary Worker is also responsible for the accurate receipt and proper storage of Food Services goods, transportation of food, dishes and small equipment, as well as washing items used in the preparation and service of food.

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed a grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Food Handler Certificate (within last 5 years)
  • Must be attending full-time education in September 2025
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to work from the beginning of May until the end of August
  • Must be available to work 24/7

Other Information

 

All applicants would be required to submit the following documentation upon request

  1. Copy of your Ontario Secondary School Diploma 
    • Completion of grade 12 requirements at the time of application submission is required 
  2.  Proof of enrollment for attending full time education starting in September 2025 at an accredited University or Community College
  3. Two work-related references which must be Supervisors or Managers.
    • If you do not have two work references, we will accept Teacher, Professor, or Volunteer supervisor references
  4. Immunizations Requirements:

Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(Chicken Pox).

In addition, candidates will need to provide documentation of a two step Tuberculosis Skin test and proof of COVID vaccination as acceptable by the hospital prior to starting your employment with LHSC.
