London Health Sciences Centre’s Transformation Trailblazers Summer Internship Program is designed to introduce recent high school graduates to the dynamic and stimulating world of health care, while providing hands on experience in a variety of non-clinical departments including Human Resources, Communications and Public Engagement, Facilities, Strategic Transformation, and Administrative Support Services.

  • Program Date: July 10, 2024 – August 25, 2024
  • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (some occasional weekend work may be required)
  • Payment: $17.50 per hour


Eligibility: High school students  who are graduating this year and those who have graduated high school within the past three years. High school graduates from 2022 or earlier cannot be attending or enrolled at a post-secondary institution. Those graduating this June may be enrolled at a post-secondary institution for a start in September.

Qualifications

 

The Transformation Trailblazer’s Summer Internship Program will provide students with the following experience: 

  • Hands on administrative tasks, including filing, organizing documents, creating briefing notes and supporting team members as required.
  • Various workshops and educational opportunities (e.g., building your personal brand, resume writing, preparing for interviews) to enhance career skillsets in preparation for post-secondary education or future job opportunities.
  • Career workshops to provide an overview of clinical (e.g., Nursing, PSW, Health Disciplines) and corporate (e.g., Finance, Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology) opportunities that exist within Team LHSC.
  • Opportunities to work alongside leaders for a day to learn about various operational needs of the organization. As much as possible, this will be tailored based on interest of the intern.
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and value

Immunization Requirements: 

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chicken pox), Hepatitus B, Tetanus/Diptheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-apporved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
