Occupational Health Services

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health Services Consultant to oversee the daily operations of our Occupational Health Clinics across all sites. The successful candidate will informally lead the day-to-day activities of clinic staff, focusing on employee health reviews, workplace incident and exposure management, and compliance with relevant legislation and collective agreements. The consultant leads the coordination of health services, and works closely with hospital leadership, Human Resources, and the Safety Team to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

Temporary Full-Time

 

Rate of Pay:         $53.72- $67.16 per hour

 

Hours of Work:    37.5 hours per week 

 

Duration:             up to 12 months

Main responsibilities entail:

  • Functional team leadership of clinic operations including staffing and scheduling for nurses and team assistants across all sites
  • Oversee the delivery of occupational health processes including immunizations and communicable disease surveillance programs, health reviews, needle stick / BBFE incident and management, support WSIB claims management, return work and accommodation processes, seasonal vaccine campaign etc.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, infection control standards, and hospital occupational health policies.
  • Collaborate with OHS Nurse Practitioners, Abilities Management, Attendance Support, Human Resources, Safety, and Infection Prevention teams to develop and implement wellness, injury prevention, and accommodation programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of employee health information.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, prepare reports, and support accreditation or regulatory audits
  • Serve as a resource to hospital leadership on matters of occupational health and staff wellbeing
  • Promote a positive and supportive workplace culture aligned with hospital values.
  • Act as the first point of contact for escalated issues for the team and, where appropriate, provide guidance for resolution.
  • Review of teamwork and workload, contributing to performance development and feedback.
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures and training materials for the OHS team.
  • Project lead for Parklane System enhancements and work optimization.

 

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or as acceptable by the Hospital

  • Current certificate of registration from a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act

  • Minimum five 5 years of clinical experience, in occupational health, employee wellness or workplace safety 

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in supervisory / consultant role preferred 

  • Strong knowledge and experience with the application of all Employment Legislation, Disability Management, and Occupational Health practices 

  • Proficiency with Parklane, Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills 

  •  Experience with effective relationship management

  •  Experience mentoring and coaching to establish customer service best practices

  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care

  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
