B6-200 Inpatient Paediatrics

B6-200 Inpatients Paediatrics is a 32 bed unit studded with superhero’s recognized for the exceptional patient and family centered care they provide to patients aged 0-17.   Care  is provided for a multitude of different medical needs including, but not limited to; Infant care, Trauma Rehab, Neurology and Neurosurgery disorders, cardiac and Respiratory disorders, Pre-operative and post-operative care, and many rare and uncommon cases.  This busy and ever changing environment provides continuous opportunity to learn and grow while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Regular Full-Time and Part-Time 

Rate of Pay:                $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour




  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario
  • Proof of a current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP (C)
  • Minimum one year recent acute care paediatric nursing experience
  • Recent, related experience with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Infectious Diseases, Respirology, Orthopaedics, Tracheostomy care and Acquired Brain Injuries preferred
  • NRP and PALS Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cerner or an electronic health record preferred
  • Well-developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
  • Highly developed clinical skills, including: assessment, technical skills (lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates, IV and phlebotomy skills)
  • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly and work through conflicts/differences in a respectful way
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex mathematical calculations for medication and intravenous administration
  • Ability to recognize own feelings, express them fully and constructively manage own feelings in challenging and emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly and work through conflicts and differences in a respectful way
  • Ability to understand the feelings, concerns and needs of other people, demonstrate care and interest towards them and establish and maintain productive relationships
  • Ability to stay effective and resilient when dealing with adverse circumstances and multiple demands
  • Ability to demonstrate an optimistic disposition toward new experiences and change in general
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
