Responsibilities 

 

Summer student positions provide eligible students the opportunity to gain meaningful temporary employment and experience working for London Health Sciences Centre. The selection of students to be considered is based on established qualifications and availability. 

Summer student positions which may become available are focused in our service areas. All positions are Temporary; therefore, you are not guaranteed any minimum number of hours per week but can work up to full time hours. Positions may be located at University Hospital and Victoria Hospital. Flexibility to work at any or all sites is required as departmental needs may vary.

 

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Food Services Clerk performs clerical duties including printing patient menus, tray tickets, tally, and inventory reports from CBORD, as well as labels and reports for both adult and paediatric feeds. 

 

The Food Services Diet Office is a seven day per week operation, including holidays. Food Services Clerks work as early as 05:45 ET and as late as 18:45 ET which is subject to change as determined by the hospital. 

 

 

What We Offer:

 

Status: Temporary part-time 

 

Rate of Pay: $18.75 per hour 

 

Duration: May 1, 2025 - September 2, 2025

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a Secondary School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital
  • Must be attending full-time post-secondary education in September 2025
  • Successful completion of Safe Food Handling Certificate preferred
  • Recent experience with CBORD systems preferred
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving skills to situations
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of & commitment to the principles of patient & family centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose, and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
