REGISTERED TECHNOLOGIST- ULTRASOUND
Regular Part-Time Sonographer
Position Available Immediately
Job Duties
- 7.5 hour shifts up to 60 hours / pay period
- Scheduled to work all shifts
- Participate in weekend rotation
- Managing a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Responsible for efficient and safe operation of all related equipment in accordance with safety procedures
- Perform all ultrasound procedures including abdominal, obstetrical/gynecological, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts
- Assesses the patient’s condition prior to, during and after procedures; maintains awareness of procedural complications and reactions during and after procedures; recognizes the conditions requiring immediate attention and initiates appropriate response; documents procedures to ensure precise and accurate procedural records are maintained
- Exercising sound professional judgment, using best practice guidelines
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures
- Address and resolve minor issues in a productive, respectful manner
- Assist with day to day patient scheduling changes as required
- Collaborate with Senior sonographer to mentor new staff & students
Job Qualifications
- Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and proof of 2 COVID-19 vaccinations
- Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 3 months
- Enthusiastic and committed sonographer, who must be a graduate from a Canadian Ultrasound program or equivalent
- Currently registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Sonography Canada registration required
- 1 year of experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Work scheduled shifts as a sonographer, while coordinating functions to optimize efficiency and deliver exceptional quality of care
- Comprehensive knowledge of theory and practice for diagnostic medical sonography procedures including abdominal, obstetrical/gynecological, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts
- Broad knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic sonographic and medical imaging equipment in compliance with departmental standards
- MSK / Breast US experience an asset
- Knowledge of AGFA- PACS and Cerner RIS an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated superior organizational skills to prioritize tasks in collaboration with others
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) to effectively liaise with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians and other members of the health care team
- Understanding and demonstration of good body mechanics with ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
