Respiratory Therapy Department
We're currently searching for RT Students to support our dynamic team. Working under the direction of the clinical team, the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Externs provides RT equipment knowledge, and supports patient flow within the hospital as required. The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Externs communicates effectively with patients, staff and families, and provides excellent customer service at all times.
Respiratory Therapy Clinical Externs will work part time hours to a maximum of full-time hours (37.5 hours per week). The scheduling of these hours will be determined based on the Hospital's needs (University Hospital and Victoria Hospital) and may include day/evening/night and weekend shifts.
What we offer:
Rate of Pay: $20.60 per hour
Temporary Part-Time up to June 1, 2026
Qualifications
- Respiratory Therapist students enrolled in at least 2nd year of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent academic standing
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
- Excellent communication abilities and interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, staff and the general public
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing tasks that require attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Commitment to patient/family centered care with a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to problem solve and demonstrate initiative within appropriate scope of practice
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
- Demonstrated Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
