The Clinical Informatics team falls within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department at LHSC. The Information Technology Services (ITS) team is dedicated to advancing the quality and safety of care through enabling digital technologies and innovation. The ITS team provides a full suite of digital health, virtual care and technology solutions to LHSC, St. Joseph’s Healthcare London, and nine regional partner sites. The ITS team also supports Ontario’s largest single regional Hospital Information System (HIS), branded OneChart, across eleven hospitals with over 2,500 beds. Further, the ITS team is also engaged with Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health to support population health management across the Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) in our region. Job Summary

 

What the Role is 

The Interim Manager, Clinical Informatics provides leadership to the Clinical Informatics and OneChart Professional Practice Consultants teams, supporting clinicians across the HIS. The team’s primary focus is bridging the gap between technology, people, and processes into clinical workflows. The Manager, Clinical Informatics provides support and leadership focused on the health system digital landscape and clinical transformation projects. The role is expected to have a strong understanding of OneChart functionality and provides health system level strategic advice and direction related to technology implementations and decision-making across clinical venues. The Manager is also a key liaison between ITS and our clinical partners across the region. 

Reporting to the Manager, Health Informatics & IT Business Operations, the Interim Manager, Clinical Informatics directs, controls and evaluates the delivery of department services. They are responsible for translating decisions of the program leadership into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external partners to achieve the necessary outcomes. The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with our mission, vision and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives. 

This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.

Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario and must be available to work on location, as required. 

NOTE: This role is required to be on-call, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis of one (1) week out of every five (5) weeks.

What You Will Bring with You 

  • Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in a health care related discipline, Computer Science, Business, or related field   

  • Related post-graduate education preferred 

  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred  

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital 

  • Previous management experience in Clinical Informatic is an asset  

  • Preference and consideration will be given to active members of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) who have, or are in process of attaining the Canadian Health Executive (CHE) Select certification program  

  • Ability to effectively work with diversity, appreciating that different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics can bring richness to the challenge at hand 

  • Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
