The Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre fosters an exciting and dynamic research program, integrating basic science research, medical physics, imaging, medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology. Members of the Department of Radiation Oncology are seeking a temporary full-time Research Coordinator 1, to coordinate and accelerate the design, funding, and accrual of academic, investigator-initiated radiation oncology clinical trials. 

What your duties may include: 

  • Assisting in protocol development for investigator-initiated trials, working in close collaboration with principal investigators, a biostatistician, and other research staff

  • Coordinating and supporting the writing of applications for funding grants (both internal and external)

  • Assists in developing timelines and resource requirements for study budgets; responsible for implementing and maintaining the study budget

  • Communicates with multiple sites for multi-center and/or PIs and Research team for study start up, study adherence, data completion and proactively follows up to resolve inconsistencies or missing information 

  • Provides training, direction and supervision to research staff and students as assigned

  • Creating and updating a dashboard of radiation-oncology associated trials, showing progress from protocol drafting through activation and enrollment

  • Assisting in administration of a collaborative Canadian academic clinical trials group in lung cancer (www.capriclinicaltrials.com)

  • Assisting in management of an online radiation oncology contouring course (www.arcbootcamp.com)

Rate of Pay:          $32.66 - $40.83

Hours of Work:     Up to 37.5 hours per week

Duration:              12-month contract with the possibility of extension

Qualifications

 
  • Two years of recent experience conducting clinical research studies, industry sponsored and/or investigator-initiated studies

  • Bachelor?s degree in relevant field of study, equivalent education and experience will be considered

  • Certificate or diploma in Clinical Trials Management, an asset

  • Knowledge of clinical research regulatory requirements (ICH Good Clinical Practice, Health Canada and FDA regulations)

  • Experience with research study initiation

  • Experience with Research Ethics submissions and amendments

  • Knowledge of related field of work being studied (an asset)

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Communication skills; both written and verbal 

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with patients, health care professionals, research staff and external stakeholders

  • Organizational, planning skills 

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
