Reporting to the Coordinator, the Inpatient/Ambulatory Clerk contributes to organizational day to day support on an inpatient unit by acting as the main communication link, supporting the admission/discharge function, taking appropriate action within scope of role when actioning patient care orderables, maintaining patient health records and completing general clerical tasks.

Rate of Pay: $24.36 per hour - $26.36 per hour

Status: Regular Part-time

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a health care office assistant certificate, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital.
  • Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
  • Previous experience working with Patient Registration preferred
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  

  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  

  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
