Children's Care -Paediatric ER Program and Trauma-Burns Program
The Paediatric ER and Trauma Programs, Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner to join our teams for this new and exciting role. Children’s Hospital has a busy ER program and is a major regional trauma referral centre committed to multidisciplinary patient and family-centred care. Serving a population of over 1.5 million in both Southwestern Ontario and areas to the North, it specializes in paediatric inpatient and outpatient services to children from birth through age 18. Internationally renowned for medical research it also serves as a teaching hospital for physicians, nurses and other health care partners.
The Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse prepared at the graduate and post-graduate level, who demonstrates a high level of autonomy working to scope, both independently and within a collaborative practice model. Using advanced assessment skills and a sound knowledge of clinical therapeutics, the NP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge base in Paediatric Trauma and exhibits a high degree of clinical competence in caring for children with acute trauma needs. A significant portion of this role will also focus on program development, quality improvement initiatives and scholarly/academic work to advance the Paediatric Trauma Program at CH and within North America.
The NP in the Paediatric ER & Trauma Programs will report to the Director Emergency Services, Critical Care and NICU, Children’s Hospital, LHSC, and will work collaboratively with members of the Paediatric Trauma and Emergency Department Programs. The NP will interact daily with the interdisciplinary team to manage, direct and provide comprehensive care for a select patient population. The NP works with key stakeholders to provide advanced care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, effectiveness and accessibility. The NP in this program will engage in scholarly activities and advance knowledge by providing clinical leadership, identify opportunities for improving patient care, advancing best practices, promoting professional education and engaging in research.
With a focus on service excellence and patient safety, principal responsibilities include:
The NP will work closely with the Paediatric Trauma MRP delivering care to children with paediatric trauma, both as an autonomous healthcare provider and collaboratively with members of the inpatient trauma program focusing on seamless care from hospital to home; this includes facilitating rehabilitation needs, insurance processes, and discharge planning
The NP will work to full scope providing assessment, diagnosis, monitoring, ordering investigations and medications, and evaluation for children involved in trauma, ER and Virutal Urgent Clinic in both the inpatient, ambulatory and virtual care settings
The NP will improve access to information and education for parents, caregivers, staff, learners and community health care partners through the development of educational strategies
The NP will collaborate with local and regional partners/stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate best practices, standards of care and/or protocols that result in the improvement to patient care, practice and/or systems
All duties and responsibilities of the NP conform to professional practice standards of the London Health Sciences Centre guidelines.

Regular Full-Time
Rate of Pay: $58.98 - $71.85 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP (C)
Demonstrated experience and leadership in clinical practice, education, program development and research
Expertise in functioning in an inter-disciplinary health care environment
