Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Regional Rehabilitation- 1 position

Salary Range: $35.93 - $41.37 /hour
The Rehabilitation Programs serve individuals who have sustained an acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other neurological conditions. An opportunity is now available to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams to provide therapeutic recreation services to patients.
The successful applicant is responsible for the assessment, intervention and evaluation of the patient's leisure needs, interests and abilities. This position involves close collaboration with the patient, family, caregivers and the interdisciplinary teams in order to assist the patient to pursue leisure and recreational activities that are meaningful, satisfying and sustainable in the community after discharge. Additionally, the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) will work collaboratively with TRS colleagues to ensure coverage across the Rehabilitation Programs.
Essential Qualifications
- University Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic Recreation focus or University Degree in Human Sciences or Services with a Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
- Valid membership as a Registered - Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (R/TRO)
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, and implement a personalized approach to service delivery within the guidelines of the Therapeutic Recreation Service Delivery Model in accordance with TRO standards of practice
- Access to a reliable insured vehicle & willingness to travel throughout Southwestern Ontario
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative
- Sound understanding of the role of the rehabilitation disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment
- Experience working both independently and collaboratively within the community as well as within an inpatient environment
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a therapeutic recreation professional
- Experience working in a rehabilitation setting
- Clinical expertise and experience working with the target populations - Acquired Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury
- Demonstrated knowledge of current rehabilitation best practices

Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
