Interventional Radiology
Reporting to the Coordinator of Interventional Radiology, the Registered Nurse will be primarily responsible for assisting in the angiographic and interventional procedures. Interventional radiology (abbreviated IR) is a medical sub-specialty of radiology that uses minimally invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. The concept behind interventional radiology is to diagnose and treat patients using the least invasive techniques currently available in order to minimize risk to the patient and improve health outcomes.
Regular Part Time
Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour
Hours: 22.50 hours per week
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
- Minimum two years of recent surgical, critical care, or emergency medicine
- Recent patient monitoring experience e.g. ECG, O2 Sats
- Conscious sedation (BDC) experience preferred
- Proficient knowledge of sterile technique practice
- Experience and knowledge in use of PCA pumps preferred
- Experience with family and community care including telephone advice preferred
- Previous experience in invasive radiological nursing including angioplasty, angiography preferred
- Demonstrated computer competency in Cerner
- Comfortable working with the paediatric population
- Proven ability to function productively in a very demanding environment with a large patient turnover
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice
- Must be able to wear lead apron for extended periods of time
- Proven dedication to patient advocacy
- Proven ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to work as a member of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated excellent problem solving and decision making skills within a very demanding fast paced work environment
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills in a variety of situations
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems

- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
