The Financial Specialist for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is detail-oriented and results-driven with expertise in Activity-Based Costing, financial and contract analysis. The Financial Specialist PaLM requires an understanding of cost allocation methodologies, be able to analyze financial data, and effectively manage contracts to ensure compliance, profitability, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. The position requires strong organizational and project management skills along with the ability to work independently. 

 

Rate of Pay:         $38.15 per hour - $47.69 per hour

 

Hours of Work:      37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of an University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
  • Ontario Health Reporting Standards Level I & II preferred 
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent, related experience
  • Attention to detail, strong technical and analytical skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite / M365. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel (eg. pivot tables, vlookup, index/match, IF functions, etc.) 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a consultative approach 
  • Sound professional judgement, and ability to multi-task and work within tight deadlines
  • Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data 
  • Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information 
  • Advanced problem-solving skills  
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to adhere to strict financial deadlines 
  • Ability to guide, counsel and coordinate activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ministry of Health `s Management Information Standards (OHRS/MIS and MIS certificate preferred)
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at Lawson and LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values 
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
