Women's Care - OBCU
The Obstetrical Care Unit (OBCU) is a tertiary care perinatal unit. The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works within the operative birthing rooms to provide surgical scrub support to the multidisciplinary team.
Regular Full Time
Rate of Pay: $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Post Graduate Operating Room Course Certificate or equivalent acceptable to the hospital
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course:BLS-HCP(C)
- Minimum one (1) year recent general nursing experience
- Recent Operating Room experience in an Operating Room scrub role
- Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and resolve conflict
- Ability to recognize own feelings, express them fully and constructively manage own feelings in challenging and emotionally charged situations
- Ability to stay effective and resilient when dealing with adverse circumstances and multiple demands
- Ability to demonstrate an optimistic disposition toward new experiences and change in general
- Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems

Immunization Requirements
- Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
