Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre - Radiation Therapy

 

The Radiation Clerk is responsible for validating, scheduling and maintaining Radiation Therapy and related treatment appointments primarily within the London Health Sciences Centre, Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre. They act as the liaison between Oncologists, Patients and the medical staff of the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre. 

 

The Radiation Clerk receives and processes treatment plan schedules and books patient appointments, coordinating with both patients, medical radiation technologists, nurses and physician availability. The Radiation Clerk explains and adjusts any appointments based on changes to the treatment plan, delays or conflicts. They are expected to ensure that all relevant information related to the cancer diagnosis is obtained and available in the patient's chart and to serve as the front desk reception to patients with appointments.

 

Regular Full-Time

 

Rate of Pay:  $28.37 per hour - $35.45 per hour

 

Hours of Work: 37.50 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Medical Office Assistant certificate
  • Minimum one year of experience required, 2 years experience in oncology preferred
  • Proficient knowledge in medical terminology
  • Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e.,  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
