Salary Range: $34.60 - $40.73 /hour
Occupational Health and Safety Services provides occupational health services to the staff of St. Joseph's Health Care London. As a member of the occupational health and safety team, the Health and Safety, Practical Nurse will be responsible for the health of all workers through prevention, recognition, and treatment of illness and injury with the use of special skills and knowledge in the fields of health, education, environmental health and human relations. Key responsibilities will include administering the Pre-Employment Health Review process, ongoing surveillance, respiratory protection, immunizations, and programs associated with influenza and COVID-19 prevention/management.
The Health and Safety, Practical Nurse contributes to the ongoing development and provision of evidenced based, best practice in the delivery of our occupational health program. Working in a multidisciplinary team, this role supports staff health and wellbeing, disability management, safety, and infection prevention. The successful candidate is an experienced and enthusiastic influencer who brings energy to work and relationships, has a passion for customer service and builds community among teams they serve.
The successful candidates will work at SJHC or Parkwood and may be required to work at the alternate site to cover vacations.
Essential Qualifications
- Current RPN certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- One-year related experience
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated experience with providing health prevention programs
- Competency and experience in providing intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and performing venipuncture
- Ability to provide effective emergency and crisis intervention, including first aid
- Experience in educational program development, implementation, delivery and evaluation
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong teaching, coaching, instruction and presentation skills
- Strong focus on customer service and working as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills, as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team setting
- Demonstrated intermediate-level computer skills in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Outlook and Teams.
- Working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Public Hospitals Act
- Demonstrated competency in assessment, evaluation and implementation of care for clients with predictable, low risk situations
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Experience working in occupational health or related setting
Teaching and Research- St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
