Clinical Nutrition - Children's Care Program

 

As a Clinical Dietitian you will be responsible for the nutritional assessment and management of patients in the Children's Care Program, specifically metabolics and neurology (ketogenic diet). This position reports to Children?s Hospital leadership with a matrix reporting relationship to the Manager of Health Disciplines for professional practice needs   

 

Primary responsibilities include the assessment of nutritional status/nutritional needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of care plans to meet these needs in a patient- and family-centred model of care. To provide these services, the successful incumbent will collaborate with other health care providers and function as a key member of many interdisciplinary teams.

 

Regular Full-Time

 

Rate of Pay:                 $46.79 per hour - $58.48 per hour

 

Hours:                            37.50 hours per week 

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related subject acceptable to the hospital
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Recent experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition preferred
  • Recent experience with paediatric/neonate nutrition care preferred 
  • Recent experience with metabolics preferred 
  • Demonstrated skills in patient education and ability to support the advancement of dietetic practice-based research and knowledge
  • Ability to promote a high standard of professional practice by disseminating nutrition knowledge and information
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development related to best practice in clinical nutrition
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing and data management software
  • Ability to recognize own feelings, express them fully and constructively manage own feelings in challenging and emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly and work through conflicts and differences in a respectful way
  • Ability to stay effective and resilient when dealing with adverse circumstances and multiple demands
  • Ability to demonstrate an optimistic disposition toward new experiences and change in general
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
