The LHSCRI Education Consultant builds capacity among credentialed staff, learners, and employees to understand, apply, and mobilize research and quality improvement (QI) initiatives. This role integrates adult learning principles, mentorship, coaching, research and/or current QI approaches to positively impact patient care, outcomes, provider experience, healthcare value, and health equity.
The LHSCRI Education Consultant has advanced knowledge of research and QI methodologies in an acute care setting and is responsible for developing and leading education programs. This includes designing curricula, creating learning tools, providing education and coaching, and supporting others in teaching or mentoring roles.
The role requires initiative, creativity, and integrity, with a focus on removing learning barriers, motivating and coaching others, and fostering engagement in research and QI initiatives.
Rate of Pay: $48.19 - $60.23
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Temporary- 18 months (possibility for renewal)
This role leads the planning, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of research and/or quality improvement (QI) education by designing accredited and non-accredited virtual and in-person curricula, learning packages, and evaluation tools aligned with institutional priorities and stakeholder needs. It collaborates with organizational leadership, corporate subject matter experts (e.g., quality, patient safety, learning and development, etc.), educational facilitators, committees, and clinical partners to build and implement comprehensive learning strategies; conducts needs assessments and environmental scans; and integrates best practice pedagogy, technology enhanced teaching methods, and competency-based evaluations to drive effective skill development. The role facilitates online and in person education, provides individualized coaching, and supports others in curriculum delivery and coaching work, ensuring programs meet diverse learner needs and accreditation requirements. It evaluates learner outcomes, curriculum effectiveness, and program impact through quantitative and qualitative analyses, using findings to refine content, strengthen adoption of improved research and QI practices, and guide continuous improvement. Additionally, it produces clear, evidence-based reports for leadership, establishes evaluation criteria, and analyzes learning data to inform strategic enhancements and demonstrate the value and impact of education initiatives. Learners participating in the research/QI education and skill-building programs include credentialed staff, employees, and learners from local and regional health/healthcare and academic institutions, and beyond. The successful candidate of this particular posting will be focused on QI education programs.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Master's Degree in a Health-related field, Adult Education/Curriculum/Instruction, Quality Improvement, or other related field as deemed acceptable
- Successful completion of a PhD in a relevant field considered an asset
- Minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in a health/healthcare environment
- Regulated Health Professional designation, adult education certificate, and project management certificate considered an asset
- Expertise in conducting research and/or quality improvement initiatives
- Experience with learning management systems, instructional design, and other educational technologies
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with needs assessment, development and delivery of online and in-person education and skill-building curricula, and evaluation of educational programs, with a solid foundation in adult education principles and outcome-based learning
- Expertise in coaching others
- Demonstrated expertise in planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring the success of multiple projects and initiatives, with a high level of accountability
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with various levels of organizational leaders, corporate team members, credentialed staff and employees, and learners both internally and at partner organizations
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work both independently and collectively with others in a team environment
- Demonstrated expertise in creating and sustaining a healthy, positive, inclusive and safe patient care and work environment for all people from any diverse background
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic data entry (eCRFs) and databases
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
