VH Surgical Level 2 Care Unit

The Level 2 Surgical Unit provides exemplary and continuous care of surgical patients requiring intensive physiological monitoring, technological and pharmacological support in a collaborative and inclusive manner ensuring seamless transitions in care. 

The Surgical Level 2 Care unit is an 11 bed tertiary care unit that provides support and treatment of adult Thoracic, ENT, Plastic, Urology, Vascular, Orthopedic, Trauma and General Surgery patients.

Regular Full-time

Rate of Pay:                $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

Qualifications

 

 

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent surgical nursing experience required
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent cardiac monitoring experience required
  • Recent, relevant Critical Care Level 2 or 3 experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated competency in ECG Interpretation preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families and members of the health care team
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills involving time management and prioritization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development and self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated commitment to the employee performance development competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

Immunization Requirements:  

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  

  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  

  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
