Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) is a joint venture of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St. Joseph's Health Care London. Leadership and staff are committed to providing a comprehensive range of routine and specialized testing and clinical consultation to patients within Southwestern Ontario and beyond. Clients from across Canada and internationally refer testing to our facilities. Collaboration with numerous research partners in London demonstrates our commitment to assisting in the advance of healthcare innovation for the future. Our laboratory teams are focused on providing quality driven patient care as well as offering educational training and continuing education for a broad range of health care professions.
City-Wide Specimen Receiving, Client Services and Pre-Analytics supports all labs in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The Specimen Receiving team supports the Core Labs and Specialty Biochemistry Labs with sample pre-analytics and supports transport of specimens for all labs city-wide. Lab Test Centers are responsible for specimen collection in 5 lab test centers across LHSC.

Job Summary
What the Role is
Reporting to the Manager, Specialty Biochemistry, Point of Care Testing, Specimen Receiving, Client Services and Pre-analytical, the Coordinator, City-Wide Specimen Receiving, Client Services and Pre-Analytics is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization. This role works closely with other departments in the organization for optimization of patient care.
While this role has accountabilities at all hospital sites, the office space is located at Victoria Hospital.
Note: This role may be required to be on-call

What You Will Bring with You
- Successful completion of an Advanced Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and/or a Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario preferred
- Related post-graduate education preferred
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital preferred
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in laboratory medicine preferred
- Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis. In addition, candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
