Pathology and Laboratory Medicine - Blood Transfusion Lab
As a member of PaLM, the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) works under the supervision of the Manager for the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory in coordination with the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologists. As an acute care teaching facility, the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory provides an opportunity for MLTs to expand their knowledge and skills in an environment that promotes staff wellness and fairness. MLTs in the Transfusion Medicine laboratory are responsible for blood grouping, antibody screening, antibody identification, blood component preparation, bone marrow and stem cell processing, tissue banking and some special projects.
Staff will be assigned to London Health Sciences Centre (University Hospital, Victoria Hospital) as required.

Qualifications
- Current registration or eligible as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario with authorization to practice relevant specialties in Laboratory Medicine
- Certification with C.S.M.L.S. or equivalent
- Previous experience in Blood Transfusion Medicine
- Demonstrated knowledge of blood transfusion, tissue banking and hematology
- Ability to work 24/7 shifts
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated accuracy and organizational skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) as well as conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop and maintain effective relationships within healthcare teams
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, purpose and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
