Temporary Regular Part Time
Salary Range: $40.36 - $56.30 /hour


This temporary part-time position is expected to extend until September 30, 2026, and is subject to the availability of work.

The Palliative Care Unit is comprised of 18 beds and is part of the Complex Care Program. The Unit provides pain and symptom management and end of life care for patients with a life-limiting illness. Our interdisciplinary team provides a holistic and collaborative approach to care, focusing on the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients.

The Medically Complex Program provides care to patients who require ongoing medical management as well as rehabilitation due to a major medical event, accident or illness. The program provides short and long stay care for individuals with complex and chronic medical conditions. This includes patients requiring long-term mechanical ventilation. Individuals in this program receive residential care in a more appropriate setting to care for and manage their health, welfare and social needs.

As a member of the team, you will provide OT care and services on the Palliative Care Unit and support the long stay complex medical patient population.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years Occupational Therapy related experience
  • Understanding of complex medical conditions and a palliative care approach to care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in wheelchair and seating assessments with 2 years of experience
  • Familiarity with outcome measurement related to clinical practice
  • Flexibility in adapting to varying caseload needs
  • Knowledge and ability to access community resources for patients being discharged
  • Experience and demonstrated competency in quality of life goals and in the implementation of strategies and protocols for goal attainment
  • Demonstrated experience using a patient centered approach
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate evidence based research into practice
  • Knowledge of computer systems (e.g. workload measurement, Cerner, Outlook, Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge of wound care
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Demonstrates initiatives with program development and quality improvement
  • ADP authorizer

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
