CNS Inpatient Unit

The Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS) program provides patient-centred care to acute neurology and neurosurgical patients.  Specialty care in neurology includes Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular Disorders, Regional Stroke Program, Regional Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, and Neuro-Critical Care.  Neurosurgery Care includes Neurovascular, Neuro-oncology, Spinal Surgery, Spinal Cord Injury, Head Injury, and Epilepsy Surgery. 

Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

 

Qualifications

 
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
  • Minimum of one (1) year recent, related medicine or surgical experience
  • Current experience with Neurology/Neurosurgical patients preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cerner or an electronic health record preferred
  • Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills; high level of initiative
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Well developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated warmth, interest and empathy in interactions with patients and families
  • Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback in an open and constructive manner
  • Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to constantly changing and unpredictable situations
  • Commitment to professional development and self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:  

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
