Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Applications are invited for the position of Laboratory Assistant in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine deparment. Duties include, but are not limited to specimen processing, data entry, media preparation, decontamination, packaging of specimens for transport and a wide range of duties to support diagnostic testing processes.The Laboratory Assistant applies specific knowledge and skills to perform pre-analytical and post-analytical work.

Qualifications
- Certification as a Laboratory Assistant by OSMT or CSMLS
- Minimum of six (6) months previous laboratory experience
- Experience with front line automation is preferred
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods – Certification Preferred
- Excellent computer skills (Cerner preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory protocols and terminology
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
- Demonstrated technical problem solving skills
- Demonstrated effective organizational, multi-tasking and time management while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated strong conflict management skills
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

Teaching, Learning and Research
London Health Sciences Centre is proudly one of Canada’s largest acute-care teaching and research hospitals.
