The Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program is an innovative initiative offering comprehensive trauma -and-violence-informed care to individuals impacted by interpersonal, structural, and systemic violence. The program is grounded in equity-oriented, person-centered principles and places a particular focus on supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). This integrated model brings together primary care, mental health, and social supports to improve access and outcomes for clients who often experience barriers in traditional health care settings. The program is committed to ongoing research, evaluation, and quality improvement to ensure services remain responsive, evidence-based, and rooted in community need.
St. Joseph's Health Care London's Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program is seeking a dedicated and skilled Primary Care Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in the interdisciplinary team, delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to clients impacted by trauma, including gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and systemic inequities. Your expertise and empathy will help foster a safe and supportive environment for patients with diverse and often complex medical and emotional challenges. The RN will contribute to the development and delivery of care plans, support research and evaluation activities, and actively participate in quality improvement and program development opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid CPR certificate
- A minimum of 2 year of nursing experience in primary care, trauma-informed care setting within the last 3 years
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of family practice nursing throughout an individual's life cycle, along with comprehensive assessment skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and other digital tools.
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated experience in Care Coordination and System Navigation to support patients care closest to their home
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy skills
- Excellent assessment skills and independent decision-making skills
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and demonstrated experience in the development of teaching materials and the teaching and education of patients (and family/caregivers)
- Previous experience dealing with health promotion and preventative medicine
- Demonstrated effective communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking and clinical problem-solving skills
- Self-directed, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team and to provide significant nursing leadership to an interprofessional team focused on family-centered care
- Demonstrated computer experience, particularly with Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Office Products, particularly PowerPoint and MS Teams
- Experience working in trauma-focused clinics, mental health care or mental health nursing
- Certification or training in trauma-informed care or mental health nursing
- Certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
- Experience with diverse and underserved populations
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
