Salary Range: $39.07 - $56.00 /hour

St. Joseph’s Health Care is willing to consider applicants who are eligible for Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). This program provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible RPNs/RNs/ Nurse Practitioners in exchange for a two-year full-time commitment. Using the principles of client-centered care and psychosocial rehabilitation, within the context of an interdisciplinary team approach, the successful candidate will provide intensive comprehensive community support/rehabilitation/treatment to individuals with serious mental illness who require a specialized level of community mental health care.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid CPR certificate
- In-depth knowledge of major mental illness from a biopsychosocial perspective
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Knowledge, skills, and recent experience providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with serious mental illness
- Demonstrated ability to apply and document the nursing process
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and the practices of case management
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications, symptom management, and community resources
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
- Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team member
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Experience in crisis intervention and the development of teaching materials and the teaching of clients, family, and caregivers
- Travel within the catchment area is required
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Experience in mental health
- BScN
- Certified in, or in process of completing courses toward the Canadian Psychiatry and Mental Health Certification

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
