Salary Range: $51.95 - $61.13 /hour
The Veterans Care Program at Parkwood Institute provides Veterans of Canada with a broad range of services to optimize health and quality of life. You will be part of a comprehensive and dynamic interdisciplinary health care team that provides services within a holistic framework to ensure that care is resident focused. You will be responsible for providing speech and language pathology services for residents in the Veterans Care Program.
As a valued member of the interdisciplinary team the Speech Language Pathologist provides assessment and rehabilitation services, to individuals within the Veterans Care Program, with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Responsibilities include consultation and education to patients, families, students, team members and the community. The successful candidate will work with geriatric residents of the Veterans Care Program to provide care that will assist and support them, meeting their evident and anticipated needs, to promote health and to enhance well-being and quality of life.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Audiologists & Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Experience with clinical and videofluoroscopic assessment of swallowing
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong teaching and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Previous experience with geriatric communication and swallowing disorders
- Eligibility for membership in CASLPA and/or OSLA

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
