Department Description

 

Patient Food Services

 

The Operational Specialist oversees the daily operation of patient food services that consists of tray assembly services, food production, ware washing, retherm, enteral feedings and clerical areas, supervises, supports, directs, guides unionized and non-unionized staff. Coordinates the efficient use of human resources, equipment, food & supplies. Ensures policy and procedures are consistently being followed. Provides appropriate tools and resources to staff in order to supply nutritious and safe food to patients in a timely manner. Ensures all documentation, paperwork, and internal quality assurance are completed accurately and safely from food procurement and storage to tray assembly and patient meal deliveries.

 

Status: Temporary part-time

 

Duration: 1 year

 

Salary: $34.22 per hour - $42.78 per hour

Qualifications

 

As the ideal candidate you have: 

 

  • Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma or certificate in Food and Nutrition
  • Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) required
  • 1 year of recent related experience
  • Computer familiarity including CBord
  • Familiarity with therapeutic diets/modifications in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Centre in compliance with OHSA
  • Ability and a commitment to act as a Supervisor under OHSA
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values  
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
