Job Description
The Occupational Therapist in the Adult Ambulatory Mental Health program will report to the Manager, Occupational Therapy Practice and the Manager of Adult Ambulatory Mental Health and Addictions for program needs. The successful candidate will provide a range of services for the acute mental health client in an ambulatory setting including assessment, case management, and individual and group interventions. This position will work in an interdisciplinary model of care within the Adult Ambulatory Mental Health Program.
Regular Full-Time
Rate of Pay: $41.31 per hour - $ 51.63 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week; weekends may be required
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Baccalaureate Degree (Honours) or a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
- Clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of adult acute mental health populations
- Demonstrated experience in clinical interviewing and psychotherapy skills
- Skilled at crisis intervention and assessment
- Expertise in providing treatment within a group modality
- Expertise in providing individual mental health treatment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative model
- Demonstrated competencies in interpersonal relations, communication (verbal and written), problem solving, initiative, sound judgement, innovative practice and ethical decision making
- Strongly developed spirit of inquiry and interest in furthering evidence informed practice
- Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team member
- Demonstrated competence in organization skills and effective time management
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(Chicken Pox).
- In addition candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
