Southwest Centre for Prehospital Medicine

The Prehospital Quality & Patient Safety Consultant, reporting to Manager, Quality and Business Systems, Southwest Centre for Prehospital Medicine is responsible for leading, supporting and championing quality and patient safety initiatives within the Southwest Centre for Prehospital Medicine, and in collaboration with program stakeholders and provincial peers.

The Prehospital Quality & Patient Safety Consultant is committed to ensuring a standardized, focused and relentless approach to prehospital safety and quality across the province, particularly in Southwestern Ontario.  

This will be accomplished through: 

  • Partnering with staff, program stakeholders and other base hospitals to mitigate patient safety risks, and evaluate the quality of prehospital care in Ontario, particularly in the Southwestern region.
  • Facilitating and leading investigations into potential patient care risk and prehospital care variances as identified through quality assurance, Ministry of Health investigations and stakeholder inquires; leading and supporting remediation efforts as appropriate. 
  • Building a strong culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the program, its stakeholders and other base hospitals. 
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with prehospital Patient Care Standards. 

This position will work out of the London office.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Science (Health Profession preferred), Business or as acceptable by the hospital
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent relevant clinical experience
  • CLEAR NCIT Level 2 preferred
  • Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Knowledge of governmental and other regulatory standards, requirements, guidelines and industry best practices related to; Patient Safety, Quality improvement, Quality Assurance and Prehospital Care.
  • Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, and failure mode and effects analyst (FMEA) as applied in healthcare.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply a wide range of qualitative and quantitative analyses.
  • Sound judgment and initiative for priority setting and strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and software (e.g. MS Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
