Physiotherapist - UH ICU PT

Physiotherapists are healthcare practitioners who use their expertise in the critical, acute, subacute rehabilitative and chronic stages of musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory conditions to interpret clinical findings and synthesize this information to coordinate care plans across the lifespan. Physiotherapists are integral in making recommendations for physical function that are supportive of discharge planning, access and flow, and to ameliorate barriers facilitating transitions between care settings with a unique knowledge of community care resources. Physiotherapists are legally accountable for supervision of Physiotherapy students and Physiotherapy Assistants who provide physiotherapy services on a daily basis. Reporting to the Manager of Physiotherapy, Physiotherapists work in most programs/services (including inpatient and outpatient services) to promote functional independence, address pain, prevent progressive frailty, treat life-threatening and chronic pulmonary presentations, and promote safe discharge plans for patients at London Health Sciences Centre.

Temporary Full-Time (February 2027)

Rate of Pay:           $54.93 per hour to $68.67 per hour   

Hours of Work:       37.5 hours per week 

Qualifications

• Completion of Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy with designation
• Current Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
• Current membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
• Certification in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation preferred
• Clinical experience in in the acute care setting including cardiorespiratory and medicine preferred.
• Critical appraisal of patient health information including: imaging (e.g., chest x-ray), history of admission(s), past medical history/comorbidities, respiratory analysis, blood gas analysis, bloodwork/labs, manual muscle testing, visual spatial analysis, neurological assessments, balance assessment, and spinal testing including dermatome/myotome assessment 
• Develop, implement and modify Physiotherapy treatment plans to address short-term and long-term goals that are established in collaboration with patients 
• Prioritize caseloads to ensure equity in provision of care to patients 
• Ensure ethical provision of care to patients recognizing the limited resources of the health care system 
• Advocate and provide recommendations to interdisciplinary team for diagnostic tests or treatments  
• Advocate for patient mobility through education on physiotherapy service indications to inform PT involvement in patient care 
• Request consultation and referral to health care agencies/partners when  
• Demonstrate conflict resolution skills to assist with navigating patient care including advocacy, treatment, and discharge planning 
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
•  Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
