Neurophysiologist - Paediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

Reporting to the Director, Paediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, the Paediatric Clinical Neurophysiologist is responsible for coordinating the care of complex paediatric patients undergoing neurophysiological studies such as EEG, EEGs ,EMG/NCS, fMRI and intraoperative evoked potentials or electrocorticography and intra and extra-operative cortical mappings. This role works in collaboration with members of the Paediatric Neurology, Neurosurgery and Anesthesia Divisions at Children’s Hospital/LHSC and technologist from all Neurophysiological modality (EEG, EMG/NCS/EP).

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:         $47.85 per hour to $59.81 per hour

Hours of work:      37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful comletion of a Doctorate in Neurophysiology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years recent, related experience, including educational experience
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course: BLSHCP preferred
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in Neurosciences
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of neuromodulation and related aspects
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in stimulator troubleshooting and progamming
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in pump programming and refill 
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

 

Immunization Requirements:

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis; 

  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
