Temporary assignment anticipated to extend to May 31st, 2027, subject to the availability of work
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join a dynamic team at Prescription Shop 1 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Prescription Shop 1 is a community, retail pharmacy that provides service to patients visiting ambulatory clinics at St. Joseph's Hospital, residents at Mount Hope Centre of Long-Term Care, hospital staff, and the general public. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will require excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills to become an integral part of this team, which focuses on providing outstanding customer service and patient care. To be successful, you must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and thrive on collaborating with others while working to full scope of practice and striving for continuous improvement.
Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Please note that on-call service may be a requirement of this role.
In addition to the essential qualifications listed below, proficiency with Kroll and experience with long term care are important assets.
Essential Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- College Diploma in Pharmacy Technician
- 2 years pharmacy experience preferred
- Recent Pharmacy experience in a hospital or retail environment
- Exceptional attention to detail to accurately complete and check all technical aspects of a prescription within scope of practice
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations required for accurate preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated skills in inventory control and management systems
- Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software applications and related technologies
- Demonstrated skills in repackaging and labeling products safely and accurately
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical and medical terminology, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in the prescribing and dispensing of medications
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Prior experience with automated packaging machines

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
