The department of Patient Access and Flow monitors and facilitates capacity to support the flow of patients and maximize patient throughput. The Patient Access and Flow department includes Patient Access and Flow, Nursing and PSW Resource, and Resource Teams Staffing. Patient Access functions as a support and resource to clinical leaders with a focus on bed management across all inpatient services and the emergency departments (ED).

There are two positions that we are recruiting for. Each role could have oversight of PSW resource team employees across all LHSC sites. The location of the office space for these positions is at 750 Baseline Road.

Job Summary

 

What the Role is

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) Resource Team is a supportive service, deploying PSWs to clinical areas throughout LHSC. This team of professionals has diverse and versatile skills that enable them to support patient care as members of a collaborative care team in a variety of settings. The PSW Resource Team works closely with all clinical units to align resources equitably and to support use of the PSWs to their full scope of practice. The Coordinator will play a role in supporting the PSW Scope for all PSWs in conjunction with the clinical units.

Reporting to the Manager, Resource Teams - Patient Access and Flow, the Coordinator, PSW Resource Team is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls.  A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.

What You Will Bring with You

  • Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in a health care or business-related discipline preferred

     

  • Related post-graduate education preferred

     

  • Minimum two (2) years? experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital preferred

     

  • Minimum three (3) years? experience in healthcare preferred 

     

  • Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

     

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
