Job Summary

 

Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.

The Research Associate (RA) will work within the inflammatory bowel disease clinical research group, led by Dr. Vipul Jairath. Multiple administrative and clinical trial datasets will be analyzed by the RA.  A range of study types and methodologies will be led by the RA, which will be written up and published in peer-reviewed journals. A major focus of this work will be related to analysis of population health datasets, administrative datasets, insurance datasets, as well as secondary analysis of multiple clinical trial datasets, publicly available under the Vivli and YODA platforms.

The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Independently developing, planning, leading study protocols, analysis plans, conducting analyses, manuscript write up and submission under the direction of Dr. Jairath and his collaborators
  • Lead, conduct and write up analysis of population health datasets, administrative datasets, insurance datasets, as well as secondary analysis of multiple clinical trial datasets
  • Interpreting and writing results for oral presentation, reports and manuscripts for academic publication
  • Assisting with REB applications, data sharing agreements and liaising with Lawson/external contract teams
  • Assisting with grant applications, preparing budgets and updating CVs as necessary
  • Coordinating projects and facilitating communication between investigators and research fellows/trainees

Rate of Pay:               To commensurate with experience

Hours of work:          37.5 hours per week

Duration:                   One year, renewable

Qualifications

 

•    PhD in Epidemiology, health services research, public health biostatistics or a related field required
•    Three years of experience in a health research environment
•    Strong, independent, statistical analytical skills and familiarity with major statistical programs
•    Extreme comfort when expected to produce high levels of output
•    Functions best in an environment that requires independence 
•    Understanding of health services research concepts, strong knowledge of data-analysis related to clinical trial data 
•    Ability to apply statistical and epidemiological methods/principles to health services research and clinical trial datasets
•    Experience working with a diverse team and building public health, research, academic, institutional or professional networks
•    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills
•    Ability to maintain strict confidence as required when interacting with stakeholders
•    Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
•    Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
•    Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
