FULL-TIME SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST / QUALITY AND POINT OF CARE COORDINATOR – Laboratory
Job Duties
- Facilitates the day-to-day operations and efficient workflow of the department using clinical knowledge, good judgment and leadership skills.
- Works as a technologist while serving as the first point of contact for all staff with any issues regarding patient care delivery, staffing issues and point of care testing
- As Quality Coordinator, oversees maintenance of the Quality Management System in consultation with the Manager Laboratory Services and Medical Director/Quality Office
- As Point of Care Coordinator, coordinates and monitors the function of point of care testing at both facilities to maintain quality and safety
- Technical Liaison with Medical Consultants, Manager and Nursing Areas at SMGH and FCHS
- Oversee training and competency programs for laboratory and nursing staff (POCT)
- Cerner Subject Matter Expert
- Maintain competency to perform all duties of a bench technologist in Core Lab and Transfusion Medicine.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Quality Management preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills and mentoring abilities with supervisory experience an asset
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and critical thinking/ problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated superior organizational skills to prioritize tasks in collaboration with other members of the health care team
- Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities. LEAN and quality management certification an asset.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and deal effectively with clients to provide exceptional customer service
- Demonstrated intensive knowledge and skills in Cerner PathNet.
- Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally
- Proven excellence in attendance and performance
- Understanding and demonstrated use of good body mechanics
