LLS Molecular Diagnostics

Reporting to Coordinator, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Genetics Analysis Specialist will manage the regular review, processing, interpretation, and analysis of genetic variants as well as monitor the scientific literature for publications related to genetic variation and maintain laboratory internal databases of genetic variation, and supporting clinical and scientific literature databases. The Genetics Analysis Specialist will also participate in development of variant annotation pipelines and draft reporting templates and in genetic test development and development and implementation of new technologies, with opportunities to contribute to academic activities.

Regular Full -Time 

Rate of Pay:           $44.67 per hour - $57.90 per hour

Hours:                    37.50 Hours per Week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful Completion of a Master's Degree in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or a related field
  • Completion of a Doctorate Degree  in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or a related field preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of previous related job experience
  • Demonstrated advanced experience working with human genetics data in research or clinical setting
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in research related to experience with genetic variant curation and interpretation of clinical relevance
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with writing and editing scientific materials for external audiences 
  • Expertise with  data management (including scientific, genetic/genomic and/or medical data)
  • Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience working with computer driven analytical equipment and analytical software
  • Demonstrated focus on quality and safety as well as commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC?s Mission, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
