Health Information Management
The HIM – Release of Information (ROI) Associate will assume responsibility for the monitoring of documentation to ensure compliance to established standards. The duties of this position include the review and prioritization of all requests received by the organization for access and/or disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI). The position requires frequent interaction with physicians and office support staff on requests for PHI ensuring consistent and timely processing of access/disclosure requests.

Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you have:
- Successful completion of a two year Health Information Management (Canadian Healthcare Association) Diploma
- Certification and Membership in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) required
- Minimum one (1) year of recent, related experience required
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent accuracy & attention to detail
- Proficient with Patient Information System - Cerner
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Advanced knowledge of Privacy and related legislation as it applies to Access and Disclosure of Personal Health Information
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of medico-legal aspects of chart documentation practices and requirements for legal releases as required by the Public Hospital’s Act
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
