Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre - Medical Physics

This department maintains, calibrates and repairs megavoltage linear accelerators and kilovoltage x-ray therapy equipment, CT and other ancillary equipment that provide radiation therapy to cancer patients. The Electronic Technologists design and manufacture hardware and software for radiation room safety and therapy machine testing and are also responsible for providing technical support for new equipment selection, room design and installation of radiation therapy imaging and treatment equipment.

Regular Full-Time

Hours of Work:  37.50 hours per week

Rate of Pay:      $36.84 per hour- $50.24 per hour

 

Qualifications

 
  • Three-year Electronic Technologist Diploma from a community college or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years relevant experience working with high-voltage equipment
  • Previous knowledge and experience in repair of radiation therapy equipment
  • Experience with analogue and digital circuits
  • Experience using relevant computer aided design software
  • Demonstrated analytic skills with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated priority management and organizational skills with respect to clinical deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff, including Physicists, Oncologists, Radiation Therapists and students
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC?s Vision, Purpose, and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
