Support Services and Environmental Operations is a multi-discipline professional department that supports the entire organization. Comprised of a dedicated team that supports Portering, Patient Food Services, Linen, Mail Room, Switchboard, & Forms Design.

Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Manager, Switchboard & Logistics, the Coordinator is responsible for the Switchboard program within Support Services. They will also support other Support Services Portfolios during on call, project work, and department initiatives. The Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the daily operations, ensuring the highest level of employee safety, person centered care, and exceptional customer service. This position is fast paced with team members working at multiple locations, 24/7. Managing and maintaining partnerships and contracts will suppliers and ensuring that all services are delivered on time and within budget will also be a key responsibility. 

The Coordinator is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls.  A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization. 

NOTE: This role is required to be on-call, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis of one (1) week out of every six (6) weeks.

What Skills Are Needed 

  • Knowledge of Emergency Response procedures and protocols 
  • Experience using Am-telco software 
  • Planning and executing action plans that deliver results and motivate individuals for greater performance excellence

What You Will Bring with You 

  • Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in a health care related discipline, preferred* 
  • Related post-graduate education preferred 
  • Emergency Telecommunication Diploma preferred 
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital 
  • Previous experience managing a high-volume call-centre, switchboard, or related experience preferred 
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in Support Services preferred  
  • Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
