Facilities Management

The Facilities Management (FM) Specialist provides a comprehensive depth of technical, analytical, problem solving support to the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) team, the Projects team, and the Power Plant. The Specialist has informal leadership responsibilities managing day-to-day MRO activities. 

 

The Specialist is responsible for preventative maintenance planning, work and rationalization and providing technical support to Trades to repair building systems. The Specialist will perform the administration and inspection of work performed by maintenance service contractors, collaborate with the MRO team to develop and maintain departmental processes and procedures (SOP?s), and respond to building system failures and emergencies. The Specialist will act as the MRO liaison supporting the Projects team in the capital replacement of building systems. In collaboration with Managers and Coordinators, the Specialist manages both internal and external relationships with key stakeholders including clinical departments, safety team, projects team, engineering consultants, maintenance contractors and regulatory agencies. Reporting directly to the Manager, Facilities Management, Specialists ensure MRO service delivery is maintained and processes are implemented with quality and accuracy.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:               $38.15 per hour - $47.69 per hour 

Hours of Work:           37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of certified skilled trade with the Ontario College of Trades; or 3rd Class Operating Engineer 
  • Designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) preferred
  • Minimum 3 years recent, related experience, 5 years preferred 
  • Proficient knowledge of federal and provincial legislation related to role (i.e. Criminal Code, Fire Code, Ontario Hospital Act, etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical/mechanical standards
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote)
  • Proficient Knowledge of the use of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment
  • Demonstrated proficient public relations skills
  • Demonstrated proficient coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work outside under unfavorable weather conditions
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated proficient investigative skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
