An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide services within an interprofessional team within the Hand and Upper Limb Centre (HULC) of St. Joseph`s Health Care, London. HULC is a combined Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery unit specializing in the care of patients with disorders of the upper limb. Patients with all disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand are seen, including those due to congenital anomalies, trauma, arthritis and tumors.
The RPN in the Hand and Upper Limb Clinic is part of the care team which includes physicians, medical residents, registered nurses and an orthopedic technician. Working in a fast paced environment, this RPN will practice at his/her full scope of practice that will include basic casting, cast removal, brace fitting, wound care and management, etc.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
- Demonstrated recent experience of at least 800 hours in basic casting, cast removal, brace fitting, etc. within the last 2 years
- Demonstrated recent experience in wound care, suture removal, and dressings.
- Valid CPR certificate
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated knowledge of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions/pathology
- Demonstrated ability to apply & document the nursing process
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish positive interpersonal relationships to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
- Proficiency in French would be an asset

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
