Job Description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and team-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Yurek Pharmacy & Home Healthcare team in St. Thomas, Ontario.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Dispensary Manager or their delegate, the Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacists in properly dispensing and checking medications to patients and performs technical duties as set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform all Dispensary tasks to provide exemplary customer service in alignment with Yurek standards.
  • Sign technical aspects of prescriptions in accordance with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) guidelines.
  • Receive verbal prescriptions and authorize prescription transfers as permitted by OCP-approved guidelines.
  • Operate remote dispensary locations (if required) while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Administer vaccines under the authority of the OCP and Ministry of Health.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing while ensuring clinical interpretation of results is handled by a Registered Pharmacist, Intern, or Student.
  • Demonstrate point-of-care testing procedures as needed.
  • Fulfill additional duties and responsibilities as outlined by OCP-approved guidelines.
  • Process and bill prescriptions using pharmacy software (Kroll), ensuring proper documentation for accounts receivable, dosage and dosing intervals, third-party billing, scheduled appointments, clinic locations, copayment management, and coordination of benefits.
  • Identify and resolve third-party billing issues effectively.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through both personal and telephone interactions.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and assist in training new employees and students when delegated.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory efficiently.
  • Participate in and, when required, lead continuous improvement initiatives, including amending, writing, revising, and reviewing policies and procedures within the department.
  • Undertake mutually agreed-upon skill upgrades in consultation with the Dispensary Manager.
  • Represent Yurek at promotional activities, such as attending/presenting at events and contributing to marketing materials, publications, and social media content.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records, adhering to store policies on access, security, retention, and the destruction of confidential or hazardous materials.
  • Perform Dispensary Assistant duties to support daily operations and ensure a smooth workflow in both retail and packaging areas.
  • Execute other duties as assigned by the supervising Pharmacist, Dispensary Manager, or their delegate.
Qualifications:
  • OCP licensure as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPh.T.)
  • Specialized PCCA and/or Aseptic Technique training either on or off-site where required, is considered an asset
  • Maintain Error and Omissions insurance as per college guidelines
