Department Description

Renal Dialysis - VH

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse supports patient centered care in the Adam Linton Dialysis Unit. The Registered Practical Nurse acts as member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide patient/ family centered care. 

Regular Part-Time

Rate of Pay:  $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course:  BLS-HCP(C)
• Demonstrated knowledge of recent nursing experience in an acute medicine environment
• Two years recent acute medical or surgical nursing experience required
• One-year recent related Hemodialysis experience preferred 
• cNeph designation preferred
• Well-developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
• Experience in minor procedures using aseptic technique
• Ability to function autonomously and independently and able to adapt to changing situations and varying workload
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
• Commitment to life long learning and professional development
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose, and values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
