REGULAR FULL-TIME SENIOR MRI TECHNOLOGIST

The Senior Technologist is responsible for performing the range of tests relating to MRI as well as providing technical guidance and general oversight to staff in these areas. They will be responsible for the professional practice and education needs of MRI Department to ensure efficient and safe provision of care.
Job Duties:
The successful applicant will perform the duties expected of a Senior Technologist (MRI) within Diagnostic Imaging Department
To provide MRI services in accordance with the standards of practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
Evaluate images for diagnostic quality
Assist in ongoing Quality Assurance
Development of MRI specific policies and procedures
Assist in Quality Control of equipment & computer systems
Maintenance of competence of practice as required by provincial and federal legislation
Participation as required in program functions and in-service education
Transportation of patient as required
To assist the radiologist as necessary
Assumes care for physical & psychological needs of patients during examinations & procedures
Practices aseptic technique as necessary
Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures
To perform clerical duties as assigned
To give assistance in the orientation of any new staff
Participates in patient safety initiatives and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment
Job Qualifications:
Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and proof of 2 COVID-19 vaccinations
Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 3 months
Current CMRITO (College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario) registration and proof of liability insurance
MRSO Certification required
5 years of full-time recent experience in MRI in a hospital environment with experience in MRI of MSK, Neuro, Body. Experience in Breast MRI and Breast Biopsies an asset
Proficient in venipuncture
Knowledge and understanding of Obligations under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Follows MRI safety regulations and guidelines to minimize risk to other members of the staff and patients and ascertains everyone’s safety in the MR environment before entering the magnetic field
Operates, evaluates, and troubleshoots MRI equipment and software issues
Ability to independently assess concurrent demands, set priorities, organizes work and deliver excellent quality imaging in a busy environment
Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
Develop strong interdepartmental relationships to promote collaboration
Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking skills in clinical and leadership settings
Demonstrated excellence in customer service and patient care skills
Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning
Mentor for students and new staff
Excellent computer skills
Experience using Cerner & AGFA PACS preferred
Demonstrated excellence in attendance
Understanding and use of good body mechanics
